I received this great message from a fellow fisherman and wanted to share it with the other
HOGBASS followers. Thanks for the e-mail Ashley! What an awesome fishing partner.
Glad that you enjoyed the videos!
John,
I’m just checking in to make sure everything is ok.
I haven’t received any of your tips since last Monday, reading your tips are the highlight of my day.
My wife Amy bought me your DVD set, and let me tell you, they are GREAT!
The first evening I got them, I stayed up late to watch them all. I’ve learned quite a bit from them, and I’m anxious to get out and practice the frog, spinnerbait, jig and jerkbait techniques you’ve showed me.
I’ve been fishing most of my life. I became pretty serious about bass fishing about 3 years ago. Bass fishing is pretty much all I can think about.
I’ve never really had anyone show me much about setting or casting a baitcaster. It’s not that I couldn’t do it, I had figured out a somewhat successful way to do it on my own. In each of your DVDs, you thoroughly explain your technique, and let me tell you, It’s made a big difference for me. I’m still getting the hang of it, but man what a difference it’s made for me so far. I was pretty accurate before with my method, but after just a half an hour or so doing it your way, my accuracy has improved.
My work schedule has picked up, so this fall I won’t be able to spend much time fishing. Since watching your videos, I’ve only been able to go out one time (this Thursday) and give some of your advice a shot. It was the best day of bass fishing I’ve had all year. I don’t use spinnerbaits much, but after watching your spinnerbait DVD, I decided I’d better get the hang of using them. Thursday I spent most of the day working a white spinner with 2 willow leaf blades to try to build my confidence. Man, I had a great time. Caught 7 great bass, but only 5 were keepers (keeper size is 15″ on this lake).
My home lake (East Fork, Olney IL) has been extremely tough bass fishing this year. My 7 year old daughter and I started fishing the club fun tournaments this year. Everyone we tournament fished with all had the same complaint, tough bite.I’m confident that with what I’m learning from you is going to change both me and my daughter’s luck with our bass fishing on East Fork. She and I are fishing a tournament there next Saturday (Sept. 4th). It’s the biggest tournament we’ve ever fished, and it will probably be our last one for the year due to my work schedule. I’m really looking forward to next Saturday, and I’ve got a really good feeling about it.
You have really boosted my confidence. I’ve attached a picture of me and my fishing partner. I hope you enjoy it.
Thanks,
Ashley Ryan
