There is no other bait in clear water that kicks more bass than a suspending jerkbait.

It is just that simple.

Let me take you back and tell you a story that happened to me a few years ago.

Several years ago I was fishing a small lake in Michigan, less than two weeks after ice out. Within ten days after the ice leaving  the weather was amazing. The air temp was over 70 degrees, sunny and the unusably warm weather pushed the bass up shallow on the flats. I could literally see bass in schools of 10 or more BIG bass cruising the shallows nearly every where I went. It was amazing to have beautiful spring warm weather so early in the year but there was one draw back....

None of the fish were bitting!

No matter what bait I threw at them they just didn't bite. I threw everything I had spinnerbaits, crankbaits, jigs and every piece of plastic I had in my box.....

Not one single bass even bothered to look at the bait for a second.

Not a single second! The bass just did not care one bit.

I stopped fishing for a second and thought well maybe the fish just are not bitting. It has happened before. Sometimes the fish just don't want to bite. I guess I will have to quit early because this strange weather is just keeping the fish from bitting.

Then I thought, wait a second why haven't I tried my jerkbait yet? I have caught bass on the jerkbait this time of year. So I pulled out my favorite rapala husky jerk, tied it on and gave it a cast.

OK! You already know what I am going to tell you... that I caught a bass on the very first cast and that I caught a load of bass, well you would be right. I loaded the boat with the

jerkbait and caught fish all day long.

The next day I went out with a friend and we both fished jerkbaits and absolutely murdered the fish. Fish that would not touch any other lure would grab a jerkbaits. It was like night and day to fish a jerkbait, catch Bass and lots of them, throw anything else and nothing would bite. The real amazing thing was that no matter what the weather was that spring we nailed BIG fish on a jerkbait. It did not matter if it was hot, cold, windy or sunny they always bite.

The great thing about it was when you caught one bass you always caught more. You would never just catch just one keeper, you could always pick of several nice bass. No other lure catches numbers of fish and finds big schools of fish like a jerkbait... nothing.

Now fast forward to Spring 2009. I absolutely slayed more giant fish than any other time in my life on a jerkbait. This year I put a number of fish in the boat over 5 pounds as well as 2 giants that hit 6 pounds. All using jerkbaits.
